I'm sorry, DC isn't anime enough for me to even know what a Joker is.

I believe you mean he’s more like Adachi. Unless you’re referring to the movie Joker that’s not actually about the Joker but that few of us would have watched if they didn’t say it was about the Joker

Joaquin Phoenix’s character is called “Joker” a few times, however it is more appropriate to refer to him as “Arthur”, since that’s both their actual name and it distinguishes him from everything we associate with the comic book Joker. The comic book Joker is a sort of agent of chaos or one who peered beneath the thin veneer of society and was driven made by his resulting encounter with the Absurd

The comic book Joker is a sort of agent of chaos or one who peered beneath the thin veneer of society and was driven made by his resulting encounter with the Absurd There's not one single comic book Joker. You have to distinguish which comic book Joker you're referring to in the first place. Furthermore, common sense dictates that when someone mentions Joker they would be referring to the most relevant one and comic books haven't been relevant in ages.
First I am surprised you knew that the Joker was actually several different people in the comics, however they all bear enough similarity that discussing their individual identities is not particularly useful to differentiate them. This version of the joker appears in the original comics of course, as well as games like Injustice, the Arkham series, as well as movies like The Dark Knight Rises and cartoons like Justice League Unlimited In the case of a character with multiple versions it is most appropriate to refer to each by the medium they first appeared in, hence why the original Joker is referred to as the comic book version. There is also a third version worth noting that tends to be less sinister and more humorous, as well as focusing on simpler issues whenever he’s not simply a tool for Batman to look cooler due to being aimed at children. This lighter version is shown in things like the LEGO Batman movie, or Batman the Brave and the Bold
