To the shock and terror of the good people of Tokyo, the entire normally crowded city of Shinjuku would be racked with diaster and tragedy. A series of meteors struck one after another, toppling buildings and crashing into the streets which were set ablaze by destructive fires as a result. Within minutes, the populace was sent into a state of panic, rushing to get out of the city.
Just outside the city, a group equipped with advanced military equipment stood by a makeshift border of police tape and men. Citizens would be hurried out of the city by the dozens, escorted by the soldiers as well as mysterious stranger with messy hair and eccentric blue clothing.
As for those escorted out of the city, they would gather just in front of the barricade, centering themselves around a woman with a holy air about her, seeming almost inhuman. She wore a white skintight suit with the arm sleeves folding up like an air vent or blinds on a window and a shape resembling a taco shell around her neck.
Those watching the tragedy on the news may feel compelled to investigate or offer aid, possibly suspecting a supernatural threat due to the heavy armaments and technology of the militaristic group.
Sensing a disturbance in the number of deaths. XxReaperxX has no choice but to investigate. Hopping over walls in a dark cloak that covered his pale skin to the site of these military figures.
Luna doesn't really understand what's happening, but there's a pretty big commotion in town.
She saw the destruction and.. Actually gets a little excited. Standing outside she can already feel the souls of the dead, their hunger for retribution. It makes the girl giddy.
So the young girl, still clearly a child, casually walks up to the group, paying no mind to their strange equipment and asks
"Oh, are we playing a game now? Can I join?"
The barricade being on the ground, Reaper was easily able to evade being caught by hopping over walls. However, catching wind of the noise and sudden movement, the soldiers aim their gun in the direction they heard it, barely losing sight of it.
As for Luna, the soldiers would glare at her impatiently through their helmets.
Strike Team Member A: Eh? Hey, kid, you should get far away from here like all the others. Although, i'd steer clear of that angel woman.
Strike Team Member B: I wouldn't go that far. She's been a big help at settling the general populaces. Without her, i'm not sure we'd have enough men to keep the citizens in check and handle the situation.
Commander: Hey, what are you two talking about over there? We got a city in flames here! We're preparing to move in closer as we speak, ignore the child and get your ass in gear!
"Oh, do they need help?"
Luna asks, though the question wasn't actually directed at the soldiers, but rather at the two spirits that always hovered imperceptibly beside her. After a moment the girl nods.
"Ok. I'll finally get to kill a real monster!"
Luna doesn't pay any attention to the danger, instead looking for an opening among the soldiers. She could probably make a distraction, but that would be rude.
The soldiers continue to ignore Luna, remaining focused on the task on hand. One soldier returns from the inferno to the troops stationed at the barricade, evidently with something to report.
Strike Team Member: Sir, i've confirmed the presence of several suspicious individuals, many actively worsening the disaster. There's too many for our forces to handle.
Strike Team Member: Sir! If we just had more reinforcements, we'd be able to...
Commander: Reinforcements!? We're the very best the world has to offer! Where do you expect us to find reinforcements that could keep up with us, let alone carry their own weight?
Strike Team Member: Sir, we're outmatched here. Might I make a suggestion?
Commander: By all means, soldier.
Strike Team Member: The enemy seems content with attacking just this city, for now at least. We can live with the damages so long as we keep the populace safe. We should order a tactical retreat and evacuate all the major cities, then plan for a counter-offense.
Commander: Not the first time i've heard that idea, or some version of it. Thanks for your input, soldier. Let's focus on searching the city for any remaining civilians and get these refugees somewhere safe.
The commander paces around, holding his hands together behind his back as he oversees his troops, stressful thoughts racing through his mind. While motivation was high, morale itself seemed to be suffering, and the soldiers seemed just nervous enough to react too slowly to stop Luna from slipping through.
With the coast clear, Luna runs straight into the city, towards the center of the commotion.
As the girl passes ruined buildings, she subconsciously gathers the spirits of any lives that may have been lost. Feeding upon their grudges, despair, and desire for vengeance. If there are any such spirits to be found, they’d end up joining Luna, creating an entourage of spectral servants, each with a grudge of their own.
